HAZCOM - Hazard Communication

Introduction

Approximately one-fourth of the U.S. workforce is exposed to one or more chemical hazards.  Exposure to these hazards may cause or contribute to many serious health effects.  Due to the seriousness of safety and health problems associated with these chemicals and the lack of information available to many employees, OSHA issued the Hazard Communication Standard.

The Standard applies to all employers covered by OSHA in both manufacturing and non-manufacturing sectors including construction.
