More than three million American workers wear respirators on their jobs every day.  Each year workers suffer approximately 70,000 severe exposures to airborne hazardous substances which can lead to:

  • Permanent respiratory damage

  • Cancer

  • Heart disease

  • Other chronic illnesses.

To prevent these exposures and illnesses, OSHA updated the general industry respiratory  protection standard 29 CFR 1910.134 and applied the update to construction, shipyard, long shoring and marine terminal workplaces.
